Rediscovering My Love of Oil Painting

Post by Sharon

Life got in the way of oil painting, a hobby I've done since I was in college. My mother taught oil painting and I watched her students paint, but I never asked for her help. She had a tendency to take over the brush and "fix" things and I wanted my work to be my own. So I hid the talent from her. A lot of things got in the way of picking up the brush again, but every time I managed to, I found myself. I never felt more "me" than when I was painting. I channel from some divine place that knows how to paint intuitively. I step back, study what I did and go "did I do that?" The wellspring is the soul and it is a magical place to allow to drive your energy.

I highly suggest that you revisit a childhood hobby or talent, whether it was whittling, playing guitar, dancing, singing, painting, photography, or any other soul's passion. You will quite literally find yourself again!
