10 Ways to Let Springtime Renew You

The first inklings of springtime and we feel something stir within. It is a time for regrowth, and not just the leaves and blossoms!

Here's 10 ways to let the season renew you with new growth -

🌹🌹🌹

1

PRUNE AND ORGANIZE

We prune back grapevines and other plants so they can regrow and launch into blossoming. For humans, it's more like removing the old, unused clutter and organize so we can get more done. The more you have put in its right place, it's quicker to find when you're busy and your surroundings don't carry constant reminders of to-do's. Out of sight....

2

GET SUNSHINE

Vitamin D is an immune system powerhouse. In fact, findings in people who suffered the most from COVID showed that they were low in vitamin D.

There is nothing like the feeling of sitting in the sun, closing your eyes, feeling the warmth penetrate your winterized flesh and warm you to feel limber and alive.

3

DIP INTO SOME COLD WATER

Water is the thing of life, for springtime plants and for your body.

It's become the rage to go for polar bear dips and immerse yourself in cold water, but there are some very good reasons for this practice.

It is a fantastic all-over anti-inflammatory and for those with arthritis, it is very helpful.

But, always be sure you have someone with you to help you as you can find it hard to move when you want to climb out.

You might want to check out some Wim Hof videos about it as he is the one that launched the trend.

You can do this in the shower too. I do it at the end of showering, turn it onto ice cold and stand in it a few minutes. I also keep a blow-up pool of cold water on the patio. Some folks even get an old climb-in freezer with water in it, but they are hardcore!

NEW HAIRDO

The renewal of springtime isn't just about new growth, sometimes it's about pruning back the worn.

New highlights, coloring, or haircuts can make you feel renewed after a long winter and dry air from home heating.

Be the blossom!

While you're at it, paint your toenails in anticipation of sandal weather.

5

DO YOGA STRETCHES OUTSIDE

Get rid of wintertime stiffness and begin to move the muscles again, stretching them and working the kinks out. Do this outdoors as there is nothing like stretching on a sunny day and feeling part of the environment.

This is like trellising a plant to spread and grow. You are making yourself resilient.

PUT FRESH FLOWERS IN A VASE

Springtime flowers, the colors, the scents; they renew you every time.

Having some fresh flowers in a vase makes you smile every time you pass by. It reminds you of abundance and warmth, sunshine, and butterflies.

Be like the flowers and put on some bright happy colors.

NOURISH WITH VITAMINS

We fertilize our plants, but we also need to fertilize ourselves. Don't forget your vitamin supplements, herbal tea, and things like Matcha tea with tons of antioxidants. Eat greens. Make sun tea. Indulge in fruits of springtime like berries.

LISTEN TO THE BEACH BOYS

Tunes to get you into a warmth and sunshine mood can do wonders for your spirit. The Beach Boys just hit the spot for that feel-good, anything is possible vibe. Upbeat music, beachy tunes, and the like are perfect to get you ready for the heatwave.

You might try some beach tunes like Zac Brown Band Toes or Sheryl Crow's Soak Up the Sun.

9

PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE SOIL

Gardening is not only a peaceful and nurturing activity, but it's also been shown to improve your gut microbiome of important bacteria necessary for healthy weight, emotional health, and immunity.

Planting seeds, watching things grow is a greatly rewarding practice and never stops the mind from boggling how a simple seed can become something so big and beautiful.
