When I was 14, my parents moved us to Arizona from Virginia. I was an outdoorsy country-type gal. The desert, concrete, cacti, and unrelenting heat and sunshine were just not me. I was a duck out water.
Then, my father died when I was 16 and I stayed local instead of going away to college so I could help mom learn to drive and pay bills and keep her spirits up.
Then, I married a local guy who loved the desert.
Then, I had a son that got married and lived locally.
Then, they gave me a granddaughter and yet another reason to stay.
Fast forward 49 years and thinking that it's my time to finally go back East where it feels like home, seaons, rain, green, lightning bugs, gardening, seasonal festivals.
The plans were for me and my partner to head there and buy a house after completing some film projects, but the projects had a sudden emergency with the exec producer, and we found ourselves hovering around in Phoenix and await things to work out.
We are leaving the beginning of June and will set up a life there in the area. Sadly, because we stayed here too long awaiting the project greenlight, we spent our own cash to be in temporary digs, a "cheap" extended stay hotel that was more than twice what a mortgage is. Phoenix is expensive!
Now, we head eastward and set up a life there where we have opportunities and lots of friends and support since this is the home place of my partner. I love the South and the people. I love the weather. I will be in my heaven finally!
As we have to reestablish ourselves until projects get moving, we are strapped. We started a GoFundMe to try and help out with car tires, driving east, and establishing a rental property there with no furnishings or household goods, as we expected to be buying and furnishing a home right now, but life throws chinks into the plans. We must go forward ahead of plans.

There will be loads of new stuff on here, especially with a new location to inspire local festivals, activities, lifestyle, and more. I will share starting over in retirement years.
