The 70s launched the best concert era ever! Summer jobs could pay for tickets (cheap) and road trips to chase favorite rock bands back when rock was at its best. Back when raising a lighter was a sign of connection to the tunes and pot was the standard enhancement.
The Who were in concert in Cincinnati in 1979 when open general seating caused a rushing stampede that killed 11 people. Ironically, that same year, I was in Phoenix at a Van Halen concert with general admission. People crowded at the doors and soon pushed. I literally could not breathe, was about to pass out. I swore I would never attend a general admission ever again.
Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix didn't need a big show on the stage, it was all about the raw ripping guitar and vocals.
