1974 Music

 

By 1974, I was heavy into skateboarding and freestyle rollerskating. I'd put on the AM radio and skate in someone's smooth driveway, dancing away on wheels and make routines I thought should go into the Olympic games. 

In 1974, Nixon resigned, "The Towering Inferno" was the top movie, and "All in the Family" was a top show that ushered out the old and welcomed in the new.

This was an interesting year in which both the younger rock folks and the older parents were handling the transition toward epic rock and roll. The folks liked the gentler tunes of Helen Reddy, Donny and Marie, Anne Murray, and The Carpenters. The youngsters were cutting their teeth on Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Supertramp.
