When I decided to get rid of all the plastics I could find in my home, I decided to go organic like in the olden days. In fact, people root through antique shops looking for the tins, crockware, glass jars, porcelain, wooden boxes, and wicker baskets of the olden times, hoping to get something more organic and less cheap. After all, storing items in plastic bins means finding a hidden storage for their ugliness. If you do storage right, these things can be out in the open in hundreds of ways without any eyes suspecting what's inside.

Seagrass
Vintage suitcases
Hat boxes
Dressers
Anything but ugly plastic that must stay hidden! If you plan these right, you can store staplers, scissors and such in the home office, the bags of flour and boxes of serial in the kitchen, blankets inside a chest in the bedroom, and holiday items under the bed. They will be handy and out in the open without being seen!
